Calkins Field Trips
Are you looking for a fun, interesting, and educational activity to do with your school or community group? Well, a guided field trip to Calkins Nature Area may be just what you are looking for.
Field trips are a free service that Hardin County Conservation staff provide. We can accommodate groups up to 50 people, but we can do larger groups with teacher/staff participation. There is also an area to eat your sack lunch or snacks for mid-day field trips.
Here are some of the activities during your visit:
- Live Animal Exhibit
- Prairie Hike
- Forest Hike
- Bird Watching at the Bird Observatory
- Museum Visit
- Nature Games
- Plus Personalize Programming
Call Calkins Nature Center at 641-648-9878 or email Chris Barber, Interpretive Park Manager, for more information or to arrange a field trip.
The kids love to race the box turtles after learning the differences between reptiles and amphibians below.
