Hunter’s Safety Education

DNR Hunter Education orange colored logoHardin County Conservation typically hosts one or two Hunter’s Safety Certification courses each year at Calkins Nature Area. The first one is typically in the early spring a few weeks before youth turkey season begins. If there is enough demand we will host a second course in late August – early September.

Most of our courses are Field Day Certification classes and participants must take the online portion of the course before being allowed to register for the field day. Upon completion of the field day, passing students will be given their certificate immediately and will be able to obtain a hunting license and tags in the state of Iowa.
